sania3108 630CONNECTICUT: Pairing with Monica Niculescu of Roumania, Sania Mirza of India defeated Darija Jurak of Croatia and Anastasia Rodionova of Australia in straight sets 6-1, 6-4 in the women's doubles quarter-final of the $ 761,000 Connecticut Open here.

Mirza/Niculescu converted four break points out of four and won 67 per cent of total service points (35/52). Jurak/Rodionova won 52 per cent of total service points (23/44).

Saketh clears second qualifying round

NEW YORK: Recording 82 per cent first service in Saketh Myneni of India, seeded 26, ousted Mitchell Krueger of United States in two closely contested sets 7-6 (6), 6-4 in the qualifying singles second round match in the US Open. The duration of the match was one hour and 28 minutes.

Both players fired five aces each. Krueger committed four double faults while Myneni committed one double fault.
