New York: India’s Leander Paes and Sania Mirza lost their respective quarterfinal matches in the mixed doubles category at the US Open.
Paes-Vesnina went down to the seventh-seeded Czech duo of Lucie Hradecka and Frantisek Cermak 6-7, (2) 5-7.
The third-seeded Indo-Russian of Paes and Elena Vesnina fought hard committed as many as 25 unforced errors and won total number of 67 points compared to their opponents 80.
In another mixed double encounter, India’s Sania Mirza and her British partner Colin Fleming lost their match against Kveta Peschk and Marcin Matkowski 3-6 5-7.
The match that went for just over an hour saw the Indo-British pair commit several unforced errors.
