Prakash Michael Amritraj was born on Oct. 2, 1983, in Tarzana, California. He is the son of Tennis legend Vijay Amritraj. Amritraj is a non-resident Indian who formerly represented India in tournaments and the Davis cup. He played college tennis for the University of Southern California where he majored in business.
His father played Wimbledon for 17 years and the Davis Cup for 20 years and reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals in 1974 and 1987 and the U.S. Open quarterfinals in 1973 and 1974. He is also the cousin of fellow tour pro Stephen Amritraj.
