IPL helped them break the ice; now SRK and Akshay Kumar are bonding well together

It’s seems once at loggerheads, Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan and Khiladi Akshay Kumar are bonding well together. It all started during Kolkata Knight Riders and Pune Warriors match in Pune when all heads turned as Shah Rukh Khan walked toward Akshay Kumar and exchanged pleasantries. The two actors were together and were in conversation that lasted 15-odd minutes.

Later on Thursday night, when the film fraternity was either at director’s Shabina Khan’s residence in Mumbai or at Ketnav theatre to watch Akshay Kumar’s latest release “Rowdy Rathore”, there was a very special, private screening being held at Mannat – Shah Rukh’s residence in Mumbai.  Akshay and wife Twinkle were special guests of Shah Rukh and Gauri, as the two couples spent an evening of great bonhomie watching the film together.

At a recent IPL match, Askhay and SRK had chatted briefly and later partied together at Prabhu Dheva’s house. The obvious camaraderie the two actors have been sharing of late has led industry watchers to believe, that this could well be the beginning of a new friendship in B-Town.

Though they were never really competitors, Akshay and SRK were not the best of pals either. In fact, after Shah Rukh’s close friend Farah Khan decided to cast Akshay in her project “Tees Maar Khan”, the two actors were pitted as rivals by the media. According to a source close to the families, their significant others – Gauri and Twinkle, have been instrumental in breaking the ice.

Both Shah Rukh and Akshay are in a happy phase right now – one with his IPL victory and the other with his films. They have put their past differences behind,” said the source.

After Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL finals in Chennai on Sunday, Shah Rukh Khan celebrated with plenty of enthusiasm, as he hugged the cricket players and did cartwheels on the field. The celebration then shifted to Prabhu Deva's home on Boat Club Road, where the director was partying with his Rowdy Rathore team.

Meanwhile  Farah Khan, who recently patched up with old friend Shah Rukh Khan, says she wants him to quit smoking.

"I think everyday should be anti-tobacco day so that at least my brother (Sajid Khan) and even for that matter Shah Rukh would stop smoking," Farah said.

When asked if she wants the superstar to stub it out, the Om Shanti Om director said, "I think whoever you love... you would want them to quit smoking".

Recently the Kolkata Knight Riders’ co-owner pleaded guilty in a case filed against him in a Rajasthan court, related to smoking in public at a stadium during IPL match, and expressed willingness to pay fine.
