New Delhi: Y Jason Singh beat Chinese player Jun Yang in 52 Kg weight category in straight rounds to win the gold in the 6th World Junior Wushu Championship underway at Mladost Stadium, Burgas, Bulgaria from September 26 to October 4.
India won 1 gold, 1 silver and one bronze medal on Saturday. Meanwhile, in Sanda event, China won 7 gold medals and one silver.
Meanwhile, Th Malemganbu Devi had to settle for silver as she lost her 52 Kg final against Vietnames player Thi Hang Nguyan after a tough fight. In 48 kg category, N Roshibina Devi lost to Chinese player Yuanjia Lin in the semis and had to content with bronze medal.
Some other players -- Prohot Prashad (48 Kg), Neeraj ( 56 Kg), Sachin ( 60 Kg) & Manish Sharma (80 Kg)-- also perform well but they lost in their quarterfinals.
The International Wushu Federation and other National Wushu Federations have congratulated India's for their first ever gold medal and best ever performance till date.
The Taolu competition will start today evening.
