Pro Kabaddi League: Mumbai stumble in front of Titans

U-Mumba-and-Telgu-Titan-6-28-JulyWith the first match wrapped up, the Mumbai faithful exploded in unison for their home team-U Mumba. The opening exchanges between the teams were nervous, each trying to get a feel of the other. The match became a heated affair with antis flying into challenges, constantly looki
ng for ankle holds and seized any half chance presented of grappling an opposing raider and tackling him to the ground. Rishank Devadiga of U Mumba was the second player on the night to pick up a minor head injury, a few minutes later-bandaged up he was ready to go again.

This was U Mumba’s third match and only the Titan’s first, the match practice Mumbai enjoyed over the past three days seems to have paid its dividends with Mumbai establishing a firm lead by the time the half time whistle was blown by referee Rana Ranjit Singh.

The Titans however were keen to break Mumbai’s winning streak and came roaring out of the blocks and fought back to within 7 points thanks to the lightning quick raids from Rahul Choudhari who for a large share of the match was the Telugu Titans sole raider, presented the Titans with their best opportunity of getting back into the match when he tagged two members of the anti before returning to the safety of his half. On the very next raid, the Titans dismissed the entire Mumbai team and put their first LONA points on the board.

The Titans displayed incredible character and perseverance as they closed to within 2 points, and soon they had silenced the Mumbai faithful. Like a bolt of lightning they struck back the dying seconds of the game and pulled level. The match ended 35-35, Mumbai still unbeaten and the Titans put their first points on the board.
