Pankaj wins his seventh world billiards title

pankaj-advaniLeeds: Ace Indian cueist Pankaj Advani stamped his authority on the world stage again as he pocketed his seventh World Billiards Championship title with a dominating win over defending champion Mike Russell of Engand here on Sunday. Advani won the match 1895-1216.

The young Indian cueist who has been going through stupendous form in the tournament, took the lead with a century break of 147 and a double century break of 298 took early break into this marathon match.

The veteran Englishman hit back and restored parity with a breakof 397 but the Indian looked in no mood to relent Pankaj got back into the surge with breaks of 131 and 92 to take the lead in the first half of the match.

Pankaj started the second half on an astounding and opened with a centur break of 128 followed 94 and 108.

With a considerable lead, Pankaj deealt the final blow with a century break of 119, to beat the 11 times champions to clinch his fourth title in the time format.

This is the eighth overall world title for Pankaj and his seventh in billiards.
