New Delhi: Ajay Maken, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs & Sports has sanctioned ex-gratia assistance of Rs 3 lakh to Shri Virender Bhatnagar, a former cricket coach from National Welfare Fund for Sportspersons.
It came to the notice of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports that Shri Virender Bhatnagar, a former cricket coach, was undergoing treatment at Indian Spinal Injuries Centre, New Delhi and he was not in a good financial condition and found it difficult to meet the expenses on his medical treatment.Taking cognizance of the financial condition of Shri Virender Bhatnagar, Shri Maken, has sanctioned ex-gratia assistance, to Shri Bhatnagar.
The Scheme of National Welfare Fund for Sportspersons provides for lump sum financial assistance to outstanding sportspersons, coaches etc., of the yesteryears, who are at present living in indigent circumstances.
