NBA legend Natt interacts with students at SNI's event

New Delhi: The second day of the SNI's Delhi-NCR inter-college basketball tournament saw a high-profile visitor when NBA legend and coach of the Indian basketball team, Kenny Natt came calling. Natt taught the players fundamentals of the sport during an engaging one-hour interaction. In the first-of-its-kind programme, at Capital's Thyagraj Stadium, Natt shared the basics of basketball with the students which included shooting, laying, conditioning, footwork and defence. He also answered lots of queries by the students.


 NBA legend Natt interacts with students at SNI's eventAfter the session, Natt revealed that he enjoyed the session and applauded the enthusiasm of the students. The young players, on the other hand, were pleasantly surprised to get such valuable inputs from an esteemed expert.

Shambhavi Shekhar, secretary, youth wing of Sarvottam, an NGO which is organising the four-day event, informed that the primary purpose of this tournament was to channelize the energy of youth into sports and give them a stimulating environment of competition as well as camaraderie. "This will encourage them to excel in their fields and win laurels for their teams and themselves."  Aimed at bringing sporting talent from every field and every part of the nation together, SNI is being flagged off by this basketball tournament.

She also informed that the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) had extended its support to the event with technical back-up. “The event will conclude with a conference on "Sports as a full-time career in India," on the January 24 which will have Union sports minister Ajay Maken as the lead speaker.
