Ludhiana stars in PBL

Ludhiana: In the final encounter of the women's category of the Punjab Basketball League for Seniors between Ludhiana district and Toronto Academy, Jalandhar, the home team came out victorious in a closely contested match here on Wednesday.

The local women defeated Toronto Academy 61-51 points in a match that went down to the last minute.

Outstanding performance by Chandeep, who scored eight points consecutively in the last moments of the game, helped Ludhiana overcome a two-point deficit of 4749.

Prior to the fourth quarter, the home team was in control throughout the first three quarters.

At the end of the first quarter, the home team was leading by three points at 18-15.

The score read 34-30 points with Ludhiana leading by 4 points at the end of the second quarter. This went to 47-42 in favour of Ludhiana by the third quarter's conclusion, before a comeback by the visiting team turned the match into a thriller.

Prior to this match, Ludhiana had suffered a defeat at the hands of the academy in the recently concluded NBA League.

Kiranjeet Kaur with 22 points and Chandeep with 17 points led the charge for the home team, while Priya with 16 points and Arshdeep with 12 points made valuable contributions to Jalandhar's tally. In the men's final match of the league, contrary to expectations, DMW, Patiala, lost to Punjab Police by a margin of s 27 points. The score read 87i 60 points in favour of Punjab Police at the end of the fourth quarter. Amritpal Bhandari tarred for Punjab Police by scorng 35 points for his team.
