RFYS National Football Championship: Another disappointing day for Tagore International School

tagore school footballNew Delhi: Second round of the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports National Football Championship league phase saw some interesting development on the points table in the Junior Boys and Senior Boys categories.

On Day 3, Mamta Modern Sr. Sec School of Delhi registered their second win in the senior boys category by beating Chennai’s PT Lee Chengalvaraya HSS 2-1. Avinash Yadav, who scored one goal for the Delhi team and assisted the other, was adjudged the player of the match.

Another disappointing day for Tagore International School, Delhi in the Junior boys category with St. Josephs Residential School, Chennai convincingly beat Tagore International School, Delhi with a final score of 8-1 at Cooperage Ground, Colaba. Tagore International School started the match on the right foot, scoring a goal in the second minute.

However, things went downhill for them after that as they allowed the Chennai boys to take over the reins of the game. By half time, the Chennai team were leading 2-1. The second half was dominated by Joery Kharlukhi as he got four goals to his name. Banteibok Barh contributed with two, taking St. Joseph School’s eventual victory margin to 8-1. Delhi teams would look to redeem themselves in tomorrow's matches in the races towards the National finals.
