Chandigarh: Punjab and Sind Bank got the better of Indian Air Force 2-1 in the final to win the 46th SN Vohra's All India Gurmit Memorial Hockey Tournament (A-grade) played at the Sector 42 Sports Complex, here on Saturday.
The Punjab & Sind Bank strikers played an attacking game from the very beginning and took the lead in the very 2nd minute through Jaskaran Singh, who got an open net opportunity after he getting a pass from Deepinder.
Punjab & Sind Bank continued with the attack and doubled the lead through Gaganpreet Singh who converted a penalty corner in the 21st minute. The bankers conceded a goal in the dying moments when Sanwar Ali struck for IAF in the 67th minute of the match.
The winning side was awarded a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, while the runners-up pursed Rs 60,000.
The award for best goalkeeper was given to SGGS Club, Chandigarh, while best full back award went to Indian Air force team. The best half back was awarded to Chandigarh XI team, while the best forward was awarded to Punjab & Sind Bank.
