Riding on Akul Pandove's flight, Punjab U-19 beat Maharashtra in Late JY Lele Cricket Trophy

cricket bat ballVadodra: Playing at Moti Bagh Ground, Vadodara, defending champions Punjab Under-19 defeated Maharashtra Under-19 by 91 runs in their opening league match of the Late JY Lele Cricket Trophy.

Batting first, Punjab U-19 scored 212 in 47.2 overs before being bowled out. Skipper Anmolpreet Singh (48) and opener Shubman Gill (45) and Raman Bishnoi (43) were the main run getters for Punjab.

For Baroda Onkar Mohite 3 for 37, Siddesh Warghante 3 for 41 and Izan Sayyad 2 for 32 were the main wicket-takers.

Replying Maharashtra were bowled out for 121 in 36 overs. Atharv Kale (41) being the highest run getter. Punjab off spinner Akul Partap Pandove bowled a nagging length to throttle one end and return the impressive figures of 10-1-22-3. For his sterling performance Akul Pandove was declared man-of-the-match. He was ably supported by Mayank Markande who polished the tail with 3-1-14-3.
Punjab got four points for their win.
