New Delhi: Zakir Hussain College (ZHC) and last year's runners-up Northern Railway registered identical victories over their rivals in senior division preliminary league matches. 

ZHC defeated Central Excise and Customs by a solitary goal. The winning goal came through striker Uma Shanker in 13th minute.

Later on, last year's runners-up Northern Railway struggled hard to beat Reserve Bank of India by a lone goal scored by Lalit Rawat in 57th minute.

Food Corporation of India ( North Zone ) trounced Urban Development Ministry (UDM) 8-0 in the A division preliminary league match of the Delhi Soccer Association ( DSA ) Annual Senior Division Football League Championship-2016 being held at Dr Ambedkar Stadium here on Thursday. The highlight of this match was a fine hat-trick scored by striker Kamal Rawat (11th, 43rd and 57th minute), two braces by former international Asish Pandey ( 8th and 50th minute), Sanjeev Bhalla (25th and 33rd minute ) and Bupender Rawat completed tally 8-0 in 58th minute.

Later, in the second match, All India Institute of Sciences played a goalless draw against Government of NCT, Delhi to share equal points.

Earlier a two minute silence was observed before the start of the match in memories of former Delhi State international player Satish Ruben ( popularly known as Laddo ) who expired following a hert-attack. He played for Goans SC and Garhwal Heroes FC in Delhi League and later on joined Nagendra FC, Mumbai during eighties. Later on, he also played for Air India and Mahindra & Mahindra, Mumbai.:
