Fung wins Hilton Asian Tour Golfer Of The Month for january

Sentosa, Singapore: Malaysia’s Nicholas Fung clinched the year’s first honour after being voted as the Hilton Asian Tour Golfer of Month for January.

The talented 25-year-old, showed great composure by battling tooth and nail to deliver two half points for Team Asia at the EurAsia Cup presented by DRB-HICOM on home soil in January.

Like his opening day Fourball session at the Ryder Cup style event, Fung also thrilled the local galleries with his gutsy performance, winning their praise and admiration.

“Winning the Hilton Asian Tour Golfer of the Month is a great start to the season. It’s a sign of better things to come and I’m going to work hard to achieve my first win on the Asian Tour,” said Fung.

Fung’s win follows recent announcement of Hilton Worldwide partnership extension with the Asian Tour, which is now into its second year.

The Hilton Asian Tour Golfer of the Month award is one of the partnership initiatives aimed at recognising outstanding efforts of Asian Tour members both at home and abroad.

The online voting contest on www.asiantour.hiltongolf.com to determine the monthly winner, engages golf fans as they vote for their favourite golfer through the Asian Tour’s media channels, culminating with fans voting for the Asian Tour Hilton Golfer of the Year at the end of 2015.

Besides casting their vote for their favourite player on the Asian Tour, fans, who log onto www.asiantour.hiltongolf.com also stand a chance to win a one night stay at any Hilton property of the choice.

Fung won the award ahead of compatriot Danny Chia and Korea’s Yikeun Chang where the trio were nominated by a selection panel before going into a voting process.

Chia’s effective partnership with compatriot Fung saw him secure two half points for Team Asia during the Fourball and Foursomes session at the EurAsia Cup while Chang underlined his immense potential by battling through the first stage of Qualifying School before going on to emerge top of the class and earning his well-deserved Tour card.
