Delhi, Haryana record wins in Vinoo Mankad under-19 trophy

Mohali/Patiala: Haryana under-19 defeated JKCA under-19 at I S Bindra cricket Stadium in their under-19 Vinoo Mnakad Trophy One-Day league match by 173 runs and took away four points. Meanwhile, at Dhruve Pandove Stadium Patiala Punjab’s winning streak was halted by Delhi as they notched a seven-wicket win to garner four points.

JKCA won the toss and put Haryana into bat. Haryana scored 288 for 8 in the allotted 50 overs. They were helped in their cause by 35-run partnership for the second wicket between T P Bali (27) and S N Jindal (38). S N Jindal was involved in a 55 runs partnership with S G Rohilla (29). However, the most enterprising partnership of 134 runs between M S Hooda (52) and S R Chauhan (94) was the highlight of the innings. S R Chauhan’s knock of 94 came off 70 balls, inclusive of 12 boundaries.

For JKCA Nasir Muzaffar 3 for 75 and Tribhuvan Singh three for 48 were the most successful bowlers.

Replying JKCA were bundled out for 115 in 31.5 overs.

Meanwhile, batting first, Delhi skittled out Punjab for 144 in 40.4 overs. Skipper Anmolpreet Singh 48 off 54 balls with eight boundaries was the most successful batsman. Shubhman Gill 22 and Pardeep Yadav 19 were the other two who reached the double figures.

For Delhi off spinner Nitin Tanwar 5 for 12 was the most successful bowler. He was ably assisted by Vishwas Malik 2 for 27 and Yogesh Sharma 2 for 37.

Delhi’s opener Rishabh Pant and Sarthak Ranjan flayed the Punjab attack to put on 120 runs for the first wicket in 12.1 overs. Rishabh Pant was the first to go, being caught by Jagjeet Singh of off spinner Akul Pandove for 78 off 41 balls, studded with 11 boundaries and four sixes. Akul Pandove struck again when he had the other opener Sarthak Ranjan caught by Ramandeep for 42 off 35 balls, inclusive of five boundaries and two sixes. The third success came through Mayank Markande who had Amnjot Kalra caught by Karan Sharma for 7.

Delhi achieved the target in 19.2 overs scoring 148 for the loss of 3 wickets.
