Muzzammil, Faizal Ali’s 50s Steer Jamia School to Next Round; Sandeep’s 70 Go In Vain for Hansraj Smarak School

New Delhi: Muzzammil and Faizal Ali’s marvellous half-centuries helped Jamia Senior Secondary School, Jamia Nagar thrash Titiksha Public School, Rohini Sector 11 by 68 runs in Group E Round 2 match of the Coca-Cola Cricket Cup under-16 inter-school tournament, played at Police Line ground today.


Titiksha Public School won the toss and opted to field. Bowlers Shagandeep Singh and Prateek Beniwal rattled the opponents with their lethal three-wicket hauls. However, Jamia Sr. Sec. School’s Muzzammil and Faizal Ali built a solid partnership and scored runs all over the ground. They both smashed half-centuries and took their team’s score to respectable 190 runs for nine wickets in 30 overs.


While chasing, Titiksha Public School managed to score 122 runs for seven wickets. Hitanshu led the batting line-up with his 40-run knock, but other batsmen failed to build solid partnerships with him, which led to their team’s defeat. All-rounder Shagandeep gave some support with his 28-run knock.


Muzzammil was adjudged Man-of-the Match for his 53-run knock in 40 overs.

Match 2: In another league match in Group B, Vidya Jain Public School, Rohini Sector 6 defeated Hansraj Smarak Sr. Sec. School, Dilshad Garden by eight wickets, played at Vikas Puri ground today.


Hansraj Smarak Sr. Sec. School won the toss and elected to bat first. With the help of Sandeep Saini’s blistering 70-run knock, they managed to score 86 runs. Sandeep smashed boundaries all over the ground in his half-century.


However, rest of the batsmen failed to stick on their wickets in front of deadly bowling by Akshit Grover and Aditya Kumar. Their three-wicket hauls helped Vidya Jain Public School to bundle-out the opposition in 28.3 overs.


Batting second, Vidya Jain achieved the target after losing two wickets only. Hemant Yadav (32 n.o.) and all-rounder Aditya (19 n.o.) led the batting line-up and won the match in 12.1 overs.


Sandeep was adjudged Man-of-the-Match for his all-round performance (70 runs and 1/6).
