Erode: Lucky Vatnani of Andhra Pradesh took PSPB's Sourav Kothari by surprise 4-1 in a pre-quarterfinal match of the Justice Sivasubramaniam memorial all-India invitation snooker tournament at the S.S. Sports Academy on Friday.

Even as Vatnani called the shots over his opponent, Shabaz Adil Khan of PSPB recorded the highest break (112) of the tournament. It came in the final frame against Faisal Khan of RSPB. Faisal did make things a little bit difficult for Shabaz midway through, but the latter kept his nerve to win 4-2.

In the other pre-quarterfinal clashes, Varun Kumar of Tamil Nadu pulled off a surprise 4-2 win over strong contender Raju Jagtiani of West Bengal, while Girish of MIG Club coasted to a 3-1 win over Vijay Nichani.
