Hyderabad vs Delhi: Hits and flops from Match No. 14

dalesteynwinsforsunrisershyderabadSunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Daredevils had a nail-biting finish in a low-scoring match in which Hyderabad defeated Delhi by three wickets at Feroze Shah Kotla ground on Friday. Though the batting was at it's worst from both sides, there were some fine bowling performance that made the match watchable. Dale Steyn and Amit Mishra put up a great show with the ball and much better effort was displayed by Irfan Pathan as well.

Here we bring to you the hits and flops from the match played between Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad .

HITS

Dale Steyn: Steyn bowled brilliantly and bagged two wickets by giving away 11 runs. He also contributed with the bat as he made runs which included the winning boundary that he scored in the final over of the match. His performance has been improving match by match and that is making the life of batsmen very difficult.

Amit Mishra: Mishra was adjudged Man-of-the-Match for his all-round contribution which sealed the match for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He gave away just 15 runs while bowling and picked up a crucial wicket of Manprit Juneja. In the final overs he batted sensibly and scored 16 runs off 14 balls.

Kumar Sangakkara: Sangakkara batted well to get run-a-ball 28 runs. His field placement was something that we haven’t seen before in IPL. His bowling changes worked really well for him and he restricted the opposition for just 114 runs.

Kedar Jadhav: Kedar Jadhav played well and scored 30 runs. He took DD to a total of 100+ which was looking a too less at one point of time but later became a competitive total. He batted till the end and scored 30 runs off just 20 balls.

Irfan Pathan: Pathan was superb with his all-round performance although he couldn’t win his team the low scoring match. Because of his brilliant bowling he kept them in hunt all the time. He gave away just 19 runs in 21 balls he bowled and gave that crucial breakthrough of Thisara Perera in his third over.

FLOPS

Virender Sehwag: It was the first match of Virender Sehwag in IPL 6. After losing three matches on a trot, Delhi had pinned a lot of hopes on the dashing batsman and since the match was at Feroze Shah Kotla, a lot of fireworks were expected from the Nazafgarh Nawab. But after showing some glimpses of his batting initially, Sehwag departed for just 12 runs, leaving his team in lurch.

David Warner: Warner departed without scoring any run as he was trying to go for big shot but ball took the inside part of the bat and travelled to fielder standing at mid-on. It was expected that he will rise to the occasion but his failure ensured that Delhi won’t be able to set a big target on the board.

Umesh Yadav: A lot was expected from him with the ball but he turned out to be the worst bowler of the day for Delhi Daredevils. He gave away 32 runs in just three overs and without picking up a wicket. His failed to bowl Yorkers. He kept on bowling short ball to the batsman which was a very big mistake especially in death overs.

Morne Morkel: Morkel picked up couple of wickets but went for 27 runs which was not that bad but while defending a very low total of 114, it proved to be expensive.

Thisara Perera: Perera had a bad day with the bat as well as with the bowl. His inconsistency is not helping Sunrisers at all and he needs to work on that. While batting, he scored just two runs and gave away 31 runs. He picked up two wickets but by that time Delhi had scored good 20 runs to take the total 100+.

Cameron White: He batted pathetically and went for that unnecessary aerial route. He missed the ball by miles and got stumped. He was having no clue on how to play Shahbaz Nadeem and bowler made good use of it and departed White for just four runs.
