Murali Vijay and Mike Hussey played brilliantly and stayed till the end to chase down the target of 138 and helped Chennai Super Kings register an emphatic 10-wicket win over Kings XI Punjab. CSK bowlers also did fantastic job by restricting KXI-P to 138 in 20 overs. Dwayne Bravo bowled brilliantly and picked up three wickets for just 27 runs while his other teammates -- Chris Morris and Dirk Nannes -- ended up taking two wickets each.
Here we brings before you the hit and flops from the match between Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab
Hits
Mike Hussey: Hussey ruined the Kings XI Punjab party with his superb knock of 86 from just 54 balls. He scored 11 boundaries and two massive sixes. Hussey showed the class that he carries in his batting by playing those copy book shots as well as those slog sweeps. His innings was very much needed because of the first match failure of top-order.
Murali Vijay: Vijay kept the price on his wicket and took calculated risks. His role of sheath-anchor assured that CSK beat KXIP very convincingly. He scored run-a-ball 50 which was studded with three boundaries and just one six.
Dwayne Bravo: Bravo bowled brilliantly and kept picking up wickets in the final overs to ensure that Punjab don’t post a huge total on the board. His bowling figures at the end of his four overs were 3/27. And as always change in pace was his strength.
Dirk Nannes: Nannes was at his very best and kept on bowling economical overs to create a pressure from one end. His early blows to Kings XI Punjab hurt them very badly. He picked up the wickets of Adam Gilchrist and Mandeep Singh. His spell ended with the bowling figures of2/17 in his four overs.
Chris Morris: Morris bowled like a rock-star in his debut match of Indian Premier League and ended up with the figures of 2/27 in his quota of four overs. His line and length was pretty much straight which didn’t allowed batsmen to hit his deliveries.
Flops
Adam Gilchrist: Gilchrist didn’t fire with the bat which was very crucial in this match because of the fire-power Chennai Super Kings were carrying in their batting line-up. His bowlers didn’t performed well at all and they failed to pick up even one wicket of CSK. He needs to regroup the players and make sure that they don’t come up with such kind of bowling performance in the rest of the IPL.
Parwinder Awana: Awana got smacked by Hussey when he scored 16 runs in his two overs while dealing in boundaries. His approach was just not there as he kept bowling the ball wide outside the off-stump and Hussey kept hitting him for boundaries. He ended up giving 20 runs in his two overs
Ryan Harris: Harris was in good rhythm but while bowling the last over of his quota he completely lost the track and went for four fours in that over. Player of his calibre was expected to pick up wickets apart from being economical.
Azhar Mahmood: Mahmood didn’t put up a good show either with the bat or with the ball. He went for 34 runs in his four overs. Vijay and Hussey decimated him all over the ground.
