Yuvraj Singh will win the battle against cancer, says Sourav Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly, under whose captaincy Yuvraj Singh progressed as an all-rounder, on Tuesday said that the left-hander, who is undergoing treatment for cancer in the US, would come out a winner.  The former captain was confident that with entire country praying for the world Cup hero and with age on his side, Yuvi will win the battle against cancer. "I am sure he will come out a winner fighting the disease. It will take some time. But age is on his side".

Meanwhile, a personal message Lance Armstrong, the cycling legend who himself suffered from testicular cancer in 1996 but came back cured to win Tour de France for a record seven times, has made Yuvraj Singh feel better.  The World Cup hero, has posted the picture of the letter that he received from the cycling legend on Twitter and has twitted "Message from @lancearmstrong makes me feel better ! Thank you lance means a lot hope we can meet."

The letter from Armstrong reads:  "Yuvi, I want you to know that the entire LIVESTRONG team is here for you. We say it all the time, and truly believe in it: Knowledge is Power, Unity is Strength, and Attitude is Everything.

Please know that we are here to help you and your family in any way possible. Go Yuvi!! Livestrong."

It must be mentioned that Yuvraj has been drawing inspiration from Lance Armstrong and has been reading his autobiography ‘It's Not about the Bike: My Journey Back to Life’ for motivation in his fight against the dreaded illness.

Former Indian captain Kapil Dev too wished Yuvraj Singh, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy for germ cell cancer in the United States, a speedy recovery. "I wish him all the best. My prayers are with him," said the 1983 World Cup-winning captain, adding, "He is a brilliant player. He has done a great service to the nation and I wish he recovers soon and resumes playing for the country," said Kapil in New Delhi
