New York: Caroline Wozniacki and Ana Ivanovic have entered the second round of US Open after registering win against Duan Ying Yang and Anna Tatishvili respectively.
 

Sixth seeded Wozniacki was up against Ying yang, a Grand Slam debutante, and from the very beginning she stamped her authority on the match. She adjusted her pace quite well and came up with some long ground strokes which were good enough to knock down her Chinese counterpart by 6-2 in the opening set.
 

The Chinese didn’t allow Wozniacki to start off well in the second set and claimed three games in a row. She was doing well till she played a half-hearted shot at 5-3, after which the momentum shifted in Wozniacki’s favour. Though Duan managed a set point on Wozniacki’s serve in the 10th game, but committed three straight errors, allowing Wozniacki to even the match at 5-5. Wozniacki never looked back and won the match in straight sets.

 

Meanwhile in the other contest of the day, Ivanovic cruised past Tatishvili by 6-2, 6-0. Tatishvili was expected to produce a better fight as she was carrying a great record of making it to the fourth round in her second US Open appearance.
 



 
 

They battled palpably in the first set as corner to corner rallies were the common site which was at time coupled with some sharp returns from Tatishvili.



The Serbian took the charge of the rallies in the second set which lasted 23 minutes and went onto take a significant lead of 5-0 but let go her three points on serve. A double fault from Tatishvili on match point handed the Serbian the match in just under an hour.
