HITS

Misbah-ul-Haq: Misbah played a gem of a knock but missed out on his maiden hundred as his team was bundled in 48 overs at the score of 170. He remained unbeaten at 96 which was studded with five fours and three sixes.

Sunil Narine: Narine did a brilliant job as he broke the partnership between Jamshed and Misbah. He picked up three wickets in quick time which ensured that Pakistani batsmen would have to play some magical knock to surpass the mark of 200. He ended up with the figures of 2/34 after his full quota of 10 overs.

Saeed Ajmal: Ajmal was at his very best as he gave away just 38 runs off his 10 overs and picked up the big wickets of Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo. Windies were finding it hard to score against him because of his tight line and length.

Nasir Jamshed: Jamshed played quite sensibly when his team was in deep trouble. But he played a half-hearted shot which got him out after scoring a half-century. He smashed five fours in his knock of 50.

Chris Gayle: Gayle played quite sensibly. Though he was off to a slow start, he ended up scoring just 39 runs off 47 balls. He did well to steady the Windies innings after a terrible start. His 63-run partnership with Marlon Samuels took away the match from Pakistan’s hand.

Mohammad Irfan: Irfan gave couple of early blows to Windies and sparked the chances of Pakistan winning this contest. He made the good use of the bounce that wicket was offering him and ended up with the figures of 3/32.

Wahab Riaz: Riaz bowled brilliantly throughout his 10 overs and gave away just 42 runs. He picked up a couple of wickets. He dismissed Sarwan and Pollard at crucial moments to tilt the balance in Pakistan’s favour.

FLOPS

Darren Bravo: Bravo failed to judge the bounce off Irfan’s delivery and ended up nicking the ball straight into the keeper’s gloves. He got out for a duck and was looking quite uncomfortable in his four-ball stay at the crease.

Mohammad Hafeez: Hafeez had a terrible start of Champions trophy as he was sent back to pavilion of the ninth ball that he faced. He added just four runs to the team’s total before his timber were disturbed by the fuller delivery bowled by Roach.

Ramnaresh Sarwan: Sarwan had a terrible match as he departed after scoring just one run. He failed to judge the height of the ball and was caught on the wrong foot as he nicked the ball into the wicket-keeper gloves.

Shoaib Malik: Malik was out on a golden duck. He was the second victim of the Narine as he played a half-hearted shot which went straight into the hands of Dwayne Bravo who was standing at short mid-wicket. Credit for this wicket goes to Bravo for his brilliant field setting which fetched his side this big wicket.

Imran Farhat: Farhat was setup quite beautifully by Roach as he was first pushed to the back-foot and was brought onto the front-foot by a very tempting delivery that was bowled at outside off-stump. Ball took the healthy edge of his bat and Bravo dived in to take the terrific catch.
