I am confident that an Indian will win Avantha Masters 2013: Jeev Milkha Singh

Greater Noida: Ace Indian golfer Jeev Milkha Singh believes that there is a strong chance that an Indian will lift the Avantha Masters 2013 trophy as the Indian golfers are confident and are in good form. He also said that that the scoring will be low because of the playing conditions.

“There is a lot of talent coming through, we have good young players and the best thing is that they are winning tournaments and that will certainly help them,” Jeev said.

On the playing conditions he said, “A lot of Birdies will be hit, the grass is dry and everyone will hit long shots. The wind will play a major role and I hope that it will be windy. It will be a close fought contest and the winning score will be between 17-20 under,” said Jeev.

Jeev who has been struggling with injury said that he is fit and raring to go. “I took six weeks off and am excited about playing again. This year I have only played five tournaments and this will my sixth, this will kick-start my season.”

Another Indian who will be very confident going into the tournament is Anirban Lahiri who just won Asian Tour`s SAIL-SBI Open.

“It’s always good to have a win behind your back, I am confident and enjoying my game. Jaypee Greens has been a good venue for me and I hope that it continues that way,” said Anirban.

On the course he said, “In the last three weeks the conditions have improved radically. The greens are playing really well and the degree of difficulty will come down to the weather condition.”

Lahiri who is ranked 155th in the world said that he is taking it step by step and his first focus is to get into the top 100.

“The goal is to do well in these events, I try to play my best in all the tournaments and the rankings will automatically improve if I achieve that.”
