Rain play spoilsport on day one of Mohali Test

Mohali: First day of the third Test didn’t witnessed any action because of the overnight showers which left the field covered for the good part of the day. The day was called off at 12:30 pm when the on-field umpires Richard Kettleborough and Aleem Dar came to a unanimous decision of calling off the day’s play.

Sun did came out in the latter part of the noon but by that time the match was called off and the teams were back to their hotel rooms. Now from the second day, play will be started at 9 am, half an hour earlier than scheduled time and both the teams have to bowl 390 overs over the four-day time. Even as the ground staff made brave efforts to get things going, but the afternoon drizzle made it much more difficult for them.


Despite the early morning drizzle, fans turned out to see Indian team in action but they were left disappointed with the gloomy atmosphere that prevailed. The outfield was damp and mood so lifeless. The weather was cloudy and breezy and it was expected not to change much on Friday.
