Pune: Integrated Sports Science Research Association (ISSRA) with the support of Venky’s Sports Nutrition is conducting the 1st Workshop on Sports Performance Analysis for coaches, sportspersons and support staff on March 16- 17 here. It is a national level workshop on the various scientific modalities involved in sports performance analysis and its use as a performance indicator in sports.
The workshop with practical and theoretical knowledgebase is being conducted by experienced speakers and eminent persons in the field of sports medicine and sciences from India and abroad.
The speakers and faculty include Lt Gen (Retd) S A Cruze, (VSM) who will be talking on scientific analysis for coaches training sports persons. Prof Dr (Ms) Andrea Fradkin, along with Prof Swapan Mookerji from the University of Bloomberg, USA will be discussing Biomechanical evaluation and injury prevention in sports persons and physiological assessment in elite athletes respectively. Col RS Bishnoi, Commandant ASI, Pune will discuss administrative aspects of sports performance.
Dr Ashok Ahuja, Ex HoD, Dept of Sports Medicine, NSNIS, Patiala will be highlight on the role of sports sciences in elite sports, while Dr Don Catlin, CEO Anti-doping Research Lab, USA, a name synonym in the fight against doping in sports, will be talking on the newer trends like EPO, blood doping and gene doping in sports through webinar.
In addition topics like performance enhancement, nutrition, doping, traumatology, biomechanics, psychology etc. would also be covered. Some speakers from abroad will be delivering live talks through the internet.
ISSRA would also be conducting practical training on performance analysis. The workshop is based on a two way sharing of experience and knowledge and will be hugely beneficial to all persons involved with sports in any way be it as a coach, physician, administrator or as a sports person in preparing the Indian sports persons for Rio Olympics 2016.
It will be a first step for many on imbibing scientific knowledge on the highway towards excellence in sports.
During the workshop, eminent sports persons will be honoured by ISSRA and in addition ISSRA would be awarding a fellowship to deserving candidates and awards will be given to the best paper/ poster in the workshop. The Chief Guest for the workshop will be Dr Shekhar S Rajderkar, Pro; Vice Chancellor MUHS, Nashik.
