Pujara will do well in the ODIs whenever he gets the chance in the near future: Dravid

New Delhi: Former Indian captain Rahul Dravid was in all praise for Cheteshwar Pujara for his brilliant batting against Australia in the recent Test series and he wished that Pujara will do well in the ODIs whenever he gets the chance in the near future.

Rahul Dravid believes that the approach Pujara carries in the Test matches is similar to what he used to follow and he finds his glimpses in his batting. Pujara has been in brilliant form as he has scored 1073 runs in the last 10 Test that he had played. With four centuries and three half-centuries already under his belt, he looks to be the new “WALL” of Indian Cricket.

Dravid went gaga over his performance and said, “He had a brilliant start of his career and his ability to play those copy-book shots makes him a class player. He knows the art of how to build his innings which is very much needed in Tests and ODI’s. The way he bats he reminds me of my batting days.”

Pujara hasn’t made his ODI debut yet, but in 61 domestic one-day matches Pujara averages 56.97, with eight hundreds and 17 fifties.

“His tight defence and ability to keep his cool under pressure situations makes him a gem of batting. His batting is getting better and better with each innings that he comes out to play. His real test will begin on the pacey and bouncy wickets of South-Africa and New-Zealand. But I feel that with his technique he will do better on those wickets,” Dravid said at an ESPNcricinfo event in which nine cricket fans got the chance to interact with him from across the world.
