After the IPL auction in Chennai, Chris Morris is at the top of the world as he has been bought by Chennai Super Kings for a whopping USD 6,25,000. When asked about his reaction, he said he was amazed by the bidding and was stunned to know about the money for which he was bought in the auction. "I have never in my life seen this much money,” said Morris.
The South African’s bidding saw a kind of competition between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians to get Chris Morris, but it was Chennai who got him in the end.
Morris has no clue how to spend the money except for splurging some of it on his parents. He was the leading wicket-taker for his domestic team Lions in the national T20 competition last season. He was spotted by CSK coach Stephen Fleming during the Champions League Twenty20 in the same year.
“Stephen Fleming came and had a chat to me afterwards and said he was impressed with my bowling. So I guess that was a big platform for me. Fleming was one of my childhood heroes and getting a chance to play in his team means a lot to me. And obviously with Faf du Plessis and Albie Morkel playing there, it's going to be quite fun," he said, according to cricket website www.espncricinfo.com.
He added, “I have heard a lot about fans and conditions of Chennai from Faf and Albie. They have always said to me that you won’t find a better cricketing fan elsewhere and I am very much ready to start my career in IPL. I am going through some rehabs under physio and I hope I will be fit in next weeks and will be ready to represent CSK.”
