BCCI to organize annual lecture to honour Tiger Pataudi

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finally decided to institute an annual lecture to honour to former captain late Mansoor Ali khan Pataudi. The inaugural Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi Memorial Lecture will be inaugurated by cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar on February 20 at the Taj Coromandel, Chennai.

"The annual lecture will be part of the Indian cricket season. It has been envisioned as a forum for a speaker from across the world to share their thoughts on evolving the game. The audience will comprise like-minded individuals and other key stakeholders of the sport," said BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale.

Pataudi, known to the cricketing world as "Tiger Pataudi", represented India in 46 Tests from 1961-62 to 1974-75, and scored 2,793 runs, inclusive of six centuries. He was the source of encouragement and inspiration of the budding cricketer of his era and he contributed a lot to make this game popular throughout the country with his charismatic leadership and brilliant batting. He captained the Indian team in 40 Test matches and it was under his captaincy that India first won their first overseas Test series against Kiwis in New Zealand way back in 1967-68.
