Indian conditions suit my bowling and batting techniques: Henriques

Chennai: Moises Henriques is all set to give a flight to his career. He has been a star performer for his team in the recently concluded practice matches. His four-wicket haul had earned him a chance to wear that baggy cap and represent his country at the highest level.

He has been roped in for the first Test of the four-match Test series commencing from February 22. The Australian medium pacer said that his bowling and batting techniques suited the conditions in the sub-continent and he would look to make the most of it in the opening match of the series.

"I have been through lots of injuries but still I am going strong and I have kept my focus on my line and length and get some movement. Reverse swing would be crucial factor and I hope I will be able to execute it well. I would love to ball against Chetashwar Pujara and VIrat Kohli because both of them are fantastic batsmen," said Henriques, who has had his stints in the IPL.

"I have plans in batting too. I wanted to put the pressure back a bit on Indian spinners. I thought that was the right thing to do at that stage. Unfortunately I missed out on the pretty good opportunity there," he said at a press conference here.

"I am aware of conditions here because of my few campaigns in IPL in past few editions and I have worked out on some plans so that I can test them against Indian spinners. Climate is in our mind from the very beginning and that’s why all fast bowlers came early to adapt to these conditions. Once you get out on the middle, it’ all about making your team win," said the 26-year-old.

“Being a genuine all-rounder requires delivering with bat as well as ball and I am looking forward to put my best foot forward," said Henriques. “It’s crucial that every player should play his part really well. It’s going to be a challenge to bat with close-in fielders against Spin bowling,” he added.
