Delhi HC orders AIFF to follow Sports Code during upoming elections

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has asked the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to conduct their upcoming elections on December 20 in conformity with the Sports Code.

The court’s order came following an application filed by the advocate Rahul Mehra who appealed for a postponement of the elections.

The matter came up for hearing on Tuesday and division comprising of Chief Justice D. Murgesan and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw, and they order the AIFF to hold the elections as per as the code.They however decided against staying or postponement of the elections.

The bench issued notice to the AIFF and asked for its response by Jan 14.

The court said that the sport ministry stand full right to take any action on the football body if there was any sort of violation done during the elections.

Earlier the ministry had suspended Indian Amateur Boxing Federation (IABF) and Archery Association of India, and show-caused the Athletics Federations of India after they found out irregularities during their election process.
