Team India ready to dust England's chances

dhoni-captain 161 100Mohali: The most important outcome of Team India's win in the last two matches against England in the series was not the victory but the manner in which they got it. A 127-run thrashing in Kochi, followed by a seven-wicket win in Ranchi, show the fact that at least in the 50-over version of the game, the Indian team has definitely got the hang of the Englishmen.

"We want to seal the series right here, right now. We have to step up a gear and execute our plans like we did in the last two ODI’s. The players are treating every game as a do or die situation and leaving no stone unturned while practicing. England is a very good team, if you slip even slightly they have the capability to strike back," said Kohli in the press conference.

Earlier, the net session for Team India was serious and the focus was on how-to-negotiate-seaming-conditions. That turn-around is now picking up pace, and it is most evident in the new ball department. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Shami Ahmed and Ashok Dinda have given the think tank options up front while Ishant Sharma has been doing nicely behind them as first change, which is where he appears most comfortable.

And with Ravindra Jadeja and his all-round performance, the team suddenly has a more settled look than ever before. Dhoni will want to shut the doors for England at Mohali itself, and with the momentum they are carrying with them, the Indians will go into Wednesday's game as favorites.

While openers Gautam Gambhir and Ajinkya Rahane have been a cause of worry, the middle order is getting better and better as the series progresses and Virat Kohli's stupendous knock at Ranchi has clearly brought him back into run-scoring mode.

On the other hand, the 'very English like conditions' did please the England team management and its playing with the idea of going in with four fast bowlers. The overhead conditions, chill in the weather and the 'greenish tinge' might just prompt them to do so.

But the difference between the English Test team and the one-day team was written large, even in the way they practice. The intense net session that the test team involves itself turned more into a jovial one for the one-day team.

England team is surely missing their ace-pacer James Anderson who could have made a huge difference in this series, especially after his impressive performance in Test matches.
