Rohit Sharma’s return as an opener has given a sense of relief to the Indian team and also started a debate that he can be a better opening batsman than his Mumbai team-mate Ajinkya Rahane in absence of Virender Sehwag.
In Indian team, most of the batsmen struggle to play pull-shot on short deliveries, but Rohit is one such talented batsman who can play it with ease and his ability to punish the loose ball was very much evident in his last knock. His shot-selection was very classy and the way he was playing the spinners for ones and twos was a treat to watch. He again showed that “form is temporary but class is permanent.”
Rohit has always been considered as a legend in the making and even on the occasion of his 100th hundred celebrations at Mukesh Ambani’s residence Sachin Tendulkar said he saw Rohit and Virat to break his records in next 10 to 15 years. He is also a very important member for the preparation of World-Cup 2015 squad and now even MS Dhoni has admitted that “he is the most god-gifted talent around.”
His match winning knock in Mohali ODI has ensured him an opening slot for final ODI at Dharamshala. His excellent domestic record in Ranji Trophy has given selector a hope that he can do well at international level and he did justice to their decision and led India to a series victory.
There has never been a question mark on Rohit’s talent but his ability to score big-runs has always been a point of worry not only for him but also for his team management.
