Dharamsala: Sunday's fifth and final ODI may be a “Dead Rubber”, but it still holds some importance for both the teams. The Indian team would like to continue their domination with a comprehensive win in the first-ever international game at this very beautiful venue in Dharamsala.
England, who are still looking very off-colour in this series, would surely like to end on a high before going to New-Zealand for their next tour. England’s concern has the fragile middle-order and inexperienced bowling attack. For them team selection also looks to be a tough task now.
On the other hand Indian team looks very determined to end the series on a high-note and continue their winning streak in their final match of the series. During an interaction with the media persons on Saturday afternoon, Suresh Raina said, “Dhoni is batting in the ‘nets’ and he is looking good. So hopefully, he will play tomorrow.”
In fact, the experiments may include giving Raina a higher spot in the batting order, as indicated by Dhoni in Mohali. Chetashwar Pujara might be able to seal his berth for final ODI as he has been included in this squad as a part of preparing the blue-print of World Cup 2015. Pujara has proved his worth in the longest format but the time has come for him to rule the 50 over cricket.
Young fast bowler Stuart Meaker is likely to replace Jade Dernbach, whose economy rate has been disastrous in this series. It remains to be seen whether England would risk playing Tim Bresnan who has suffered from elbow injury again.
With the series already out of their reach, England would be looking for a consolation win. As the in-form newcomer Joe Root put it, “There is so much to play for. After all, beating India in its backyard is always a tough-task.”
Meanwhile, taking the morning weather conditions here into consideration, the Match Referee Andy Pycroft has delayed the play of the match by half an hour to 9.30 a.m.
