Bengaluru: Indian finally found some peace of mind after beating England in the ODI series with a margin of 3-2. The biggest find of the season has come up in the form of fast bowlers who have not only made most of this opportunity but also made sure they can fill in the boots of seniors like Zaheer Khan. With the freshness in bowling India also saw an improved fielding unit and a possible bowling all-rounder in the form of Ravindra Jadeja and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar to add balance to the team.
Team India found some exciting talent in the form of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shami Ahmed as the pace duo performed better than expected and Ishant Sharma’s return to form was only an added bonus.
The spinners, meanwhile, tried to impress by imparting more flight, showcasing their skills at the adjacent nets as the three-day bowlers’ camp at the National Cricket Academy concluded here.
Meanwhile, as many as 18 bowlers – 11 pacers and seven spinners — participated in a camp, National Cricket Academy, Bangalore and was a welcome initiative by the BCCI where players who performed well in the just concluded Ranji season were called up for a closer look.
Talking about the initiative, BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale said: “The bowlers have been picked for a specific purpose. Basically we’re trying to create a pool of cricketers so that the support staff and coaches can have a look at them.” Jagdale added that this initiative will be a continuous process
Earlier Indian skipper Dhoni had said, “We are keen to finalise a pool of players who would make it to the 15 men squad for 2015 World Cup. With some of the experienced bowlers in the line-up and fresh legs coming in, the contest gets tougher and better.”
India will have a lot to think about while choosing the bowling attack for the 2015 World Cup in Australia. Dhoni’s penchant for bowling all-rounder is key factors that will come into the picture among the player’s ability to perform in those conditions and form.
Right now, India’s pace bowling is steeping with lot of promise and hope. The success of the bowlers in the just concluded series despite the absence of key bowlers is very much evident.
It’s going to be very interesting to see the final eleven of the Indian squad for 2015 World Cup.
