Nagpur: Jonathan Trott and Ian Bell carried from where they left on the fourth day in the morning session of the last day of fifth Test and inched England closer towards their first series win in India in 27 years.
England were on 240 for 3 at lunch and extended their lead to 244 runs with Trott and Ian Bell still batting.
Indian bowlers could not pose any sort of threat to the overnight batsmen as the pitch became easier for batting and had to toil hard.
It was a treat to watch the English batsmen at work as they played some elegant shots throughout the session. Trott reached his century in the morning and at break was batting on 106 0ff 248 deliveries including 14 boundaries, while Bell who did not have a good series so far came to the form just at the right time. He was unbeaten 61 and hit 10 boundaries.
