Sehwag-Gambhir get India off to solid start

Kolkata: Opening duo of Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag gave a solid start to India’s second innings on fourth day of third Test here at the Eden Gardens here today.

India trailing by 207, reached 86-0 at lunch narrowing down the gap by 121 runs.

Gambhir and Sehwag showed intent and took the attack to the English and did not let them settle in the morning session of the play.

Sehwag was the more dominating of the two and scored at a much faster rate. He was unbeaten on 49 off 57 deliveries including seven fours, while Gambhir was not out on 33 off 70 balls including three fours and a six.

Earlier England starting the day at 509-6, lost their remaining four wickets for cheap to bundle out for 523.

Pragyan Ojha was the pick of the bowler for India with his figures of 4-142, while R Ashwin chipped in with 3-183.
