Turning track gives both sides a chance to win: Cook

Kolkata: Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has received a lot of criticism for his demand of rank-turner against England and finally he found some support in the form of opposition captain Alastair Cook.

Cook said that he would prefer a wicket that would provide result. "Mumbai gave us a great chance of winning because it was a result wicket. On the very flat ones, it's very hard to get a result. Mumbai proved with a turning track that it gives both sides a chance to win,” Cook said on the eve of the third Test.

Dhoni has been vocal about his demands. "As I said when you come to India, you want to play on the turning tracks. Irrespective of the results -- we lost the last game -- we want to play on a wicket that suits the sub-continent conditions. That's what it is," he said.

“I feel the challenges are when you play on tracks that assist the spin. It does not matter if you lose a few games or win the series," Dhoni said.
