Warne backs his country’s decision to confer Sachin with the membership of Order of Australia

Mumbai: The on-field rivalry between Shane Warne and Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar is well known and the fact that the legendary leg-spinner has a great inspiration for Sachin is also open to all. And once again on Thursday, Warne was in all praise for the Little Master and hailed his country's decision to confer Sachin Tendulkar with the membership of Order of Australia, saying Sachin deserves to be honoured by every nation.

Disagreeing with Australian batsman Matthew Hayden, who had opposed the decision saying it should be bestowed only on his countrymen, Warne said Sachin deserved the honour from every country.

“I think he has done so well, so much for the game of cricket. The way he has conducted himself on and off the field has been first class. He deserves it. I was proud of Australia to recognise that and give Sachin that honour," he added.

Speaking about Sachin’s retirement, Warne said the veteran should continue playing international cricket as long as he keeps scoring runs.

"Sachin should carry on as long as wants. He should play as long as continues to score runs, which he seems to do. He can play as long as he wants," he said.
