Greater Noida: Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone said that Indian Grand Prix have done a good job in putting up a better show than the last year and it can only better from here.
"The conditions have improved immensely from last year and one can expect it to only get better in the future. It was not easy to build a circuit in a place like this and credit should go to the organisers for such a wonderful track," Ecclestone told the reporters at the Buddh International Circuit paddock.
There was a strong fan to the inaugural edition of the Indian GP last year, but then there has been a dip in the interest from the spectators this year. When asked about the reason for this, he said, “Interest is high always in the first time, but then it goes down in the next. It is not a new thing, but then if does not rise in the third year, then it is a problem. And we have stiff competition from cricket."
Talking about the significance of F1 in the country, he said that Indian GP has put India on the motor sport map of the World.
"It is a matter of pride for any country hosting the Olympics. Similarly, holding a F1 race also helps in building the image. The circuit is one of the best in the world and they are in a good spot to host the race," he said.
