CLT20 2nd Semifinal--Sydney Sixers vs Titans: Hits & Flops...

In a thrilling semifinal of the ongoing Champions League Twenty20, Sydney Sixers defeated Titans by two wickets. The match went down to the last ball and it was a bye that took the Australian teamthrough to the finals where they will face Lions on Sunday at Johannesburg.

Sydney chasing a stiff target of 164 runs got off to a flying the running between start, but some confusion in the running between the wicket and some poor shot selection took the match to the last over.

Let’s have a look at some of the hits and flops from the match:


Titans:

David Wiese: He probably played the innings of the tournament; Wiese came into bat when Titans were reeling at 82-5 in the 14th over. Wiese took his time and got his eyes in and he exploded after that. He hit some massive sixes and scored runs at a strike-rate of more than 200. His innings of 61 included four sixes and six fours.

Henry Davids: He played a very good innings and carried his bat, Davids kept losing partners at the other end but did not panic. Davids made 59 runs of just 44 balls and hit three fours and three sixes in his innings.

Roelof van der Merwe: He failed with the bat but was very impressive with the ball. His first over was expensive but he came back strongly to put the pressure on the Sydney batsmen. He took one wicket and conceded only 21 runs in his four overs.

Flops:

Jacques Rudolph: Rudolph was the most experienced batsman in the Titans batting line up and was in very good form before the match. Rudolph in this innings played a bad shot to get out. His wicket was very crucial.


Sydney Sixers:

Hits:

Josh Hazlewood: He has been very impressive in the tournament and was once again superb with his bowling. Hazlewood has been one of the most economical bowlers and conceded only 19 runs in his four overs.

Steve O’Keefe: He had a brilliant match both with the ball and with the bat. O’Keefe conceded only 19 runs in his four overs and never allowed the Titans batsmen to break free. He was promoted to open the batting and he did a very good job. He scored 32 of just 21 balls.

Flops:

Brad Haddin: He came into bat when Sydney were in a good position all he needed to do was to rotate the strike but Haddin got out trying to hit the ball for a six. His wicket opened the flood gates for the Titans.
