Champions League Twenty20--KKR vs Titans: Players to watch out for…

In the second match of the day, Kolkata Knight Riders will take on Titans in a Group A encounter of the ongoing Champions League Twenty20 in Cape Town.

IPL champions KKR were the first team to be knocked out of the tournament with two consecutive defeats. Their last match was abandoned because of rain and they have two points from three matches. KKR will like to leave the tournament on a high and will be desperate to show what they are capable of.

Titans on the other hand are leading the points table with two wins; they will be hoping to secure their third win which will take them to the semifinals.

Both teams have some quality players in their ranks, let’s have a look at them.

Gautam Gambhir: Gautam Gambhir was in tremendous form in IPL but has lost his touch since then. Gambhir needs some runs under his belt and this match provides him a perfect opportunity to get his confidence back. KKR depends a lot on Gambhir to provide them with good starts.

Brendon McCullum: He was in brilliant form in the recently concluded T20 World Cup and KKR will be hoping for him to perform on those lines. McCullum somehow has not managed to replicate his international form for his franchise and will be looking to change that equation.

Sunil Narine: He was in a good touch against the Delhi Daredevils and was among wickets. Narine was very good in the later-half of the World Cup and finished as the highest wicket-taker. He is coming into the tournament on a high and a lot will depend on how he bowls his four overs.

Brett Lee: He had a good game against Delhi Daredevils and picked the important wicket of Kevin Pietersen. Lee looked in good rhythm and bowled at a good pace. He will once again be the man responsible for getting KKR early wickets.

Titans:

Farhaan Behardien: He was in tremendous form in the last match and played an attacking innings, Titans will depend heavily on this South African national. He can be dangerous in the death overs with his stroke-play.

Jacques Rudolph: He is the highest run-scorer of the tournament and is in ominous touch. Rudolph is a class player and provides stability on top of the order. He likes playing long innings and Titans will be expecting one such innings from him in this match.

Alfonso Thomas: He is one of the most experienced T20 bowlers in the world, Thomas plays all-round the world and is familiar with every condition. He is the key figure in Titans’ bowling attack.

Roelof van der Merwe: He is a very skilled cricketer and is an ultimate competitor. He is a local and will hold the key in the middle-overs with his left-arm spin bowling. He can be dangerous with the bat as well.
