The match saw many good performance and there were some disappointing ones as well
Here are few of the hits and flops of the match:
Sydney Sixers:
Hits:
Shane Watson: The Australian all rounder replicated his form from the recently concluded T20 World Cup. Opening the innings, he took the attack to the Chennai bowlers and scored a breezy 46 from 30 deliveries. His knock was laced with five fours and a couple of sixes. His knock provided a perfect launch-pad for the middle order.
Moises Henriques: It was Moises Henriques all round performance that helped his side register a comprehensive win over the IPL giants. First up with the bat he played a fluent knock of 49 off 23 deliveries including five fours and three sixes. Then with the ball, he took three wickets by giving away just 23 runs.
Mitchell Starc: Mitchell Starc was great with the new ball and took the prized wicket of in-form Murali Vijay in his first over. He came back in the second spell and took two crucial wickets to squash Chennai’s hope of chasing down the target. He ended the match with figures of 3-31 in four overs.
Flops:
Pat Cummins: Pat Cummins was woeful in the match and was wayward with his line and length. He gave away 42 runs in four overs. He however, took one wicket.
Chennai Super Kings:
Hits:
Faf du Plessis: The South African was on a roll in the match and the conditions helped him a lot. He got Chennai off to a good start and scored 43 off 25 deliveries which included five overs and a couple of sixes.
Suresh Raina: Suresh Raina has always been phenomenal for Chennai and he rose to the occasion yesterday. Wickets kept tumbling at the other hand but he hung on from one end and gave his team a real chance of winning the match. He scored 57 off 33 deliveries laced with eight fours and a six.
Flops:
Mahendra Singh Dhoni: The skipper came at a very crucial time and the situation required him to stay and guide his team, but he got out soon scoring only eight runs.
Yo Mahesh: He was given the ball in the fifth over of the innings and he was taken for 18 runs. He never came back to bowl again.
Doug Bollinger: Bollinger started off well in the match, but then disappointed during the death overs. He was taken for far too many runs in his final spell he ended with figures of 39 in four overs.
