Bombay High Court reject to give further extension to DHCL

Mumbai: Deccan Chronicle Holdings Ltd. has been denied any further extension by the Bombay High Court for furnishing Rs 100 crore to BCCI for their Indian Premier League Franchisee Deccan Chargers.

The deadline for submitting the bank guarantee came to an end today at 5 pm and the High Court has refused to grant any further time to DHCL saying that they already extended the earlier date by three days.

Now the Board of Cricket Control stands full authority to take any action it desires as far as the Deccan Chargers are concerned. DHCL had urged Justice SJ Kathawala to extend the date till October 15.

The DHCL was ordered by the high court on October 1 to give the bank guarantee of 100 crore after they filed a petition against the BCCI’s decision to terminate their IPL team Deccan Chargers.

But unable to furnish the money, the cash strapped company was granted three days of extension and order them to furnish the money by 5 pm today.

BCCI has not yet confirmed their stand on Deccan Chargers but how things stand, it might be curtains for the Hyderabi outfit in the IPL.
