Colombo: India’s new vice-captain Virat Kohli, who is going through a dream patch hit his 13th ODI hundred to give India the unbeatable lead of 3-1 in the five match series against Sri Lanka. Virat scored 128 runs, more than half of the total required by the visiting team to seal the series.
Virat who has been particularly menacing on Sri Lankan speedster Lasith Malinga, in the past few innings said that one has to get on top of bowlers like Malinga.
“Malinga likes bowling Yorkers and does it very well. I am a strong leg-side player and I back myself to hit him through the leg side. Malinga is a kind of bowler who will change the course of match if you don’t get on top of him.”
Virat now has 13 ODI hundreds and he is quickest ever to achieve this feat, what’s more amazing is the fact that 12 out of his 13 hundreds have come in the winning cause, on this Virat said, “Every sportsperson who plays team sport will tell you that it is the best feeling to perform in the teams’ win. It is the best feeling that a person can have.”
Virat Kohli who paces his innings brilliantly said, “I was disappointed with my effort in the last match where I played a bit slowly, in the middle overs a strike-rate between 78-85 is good because you can always pick it up towards the end of the innings.”
MS Dhoni also praised this phenomenal youngster, he said, “He has improved a lot, he doesn’t like getting out and always is striving to play a big innings. He has the ability to improve his strike-rate once he gets in and looks to finish the match.”
