City’s favorite son Sourav Ganguly to take on Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata: In a grand IPL clash Gautam Gambhir’s Kolkata knight Riders will take on Sourav Ganguly’s Pune warriors at the epic Eden Gardens. The match is being termed as the mother of all IPL matches because it involves a man who changed the sporting culture of Bengal. Ganguly is responsible for shifting Bengal’s focus from football to cricket. And this time it will be even more interesting as Ganguly will be striving hard to beat the team that bears the name of the city which has always been his.

Sourav Ganguly has had a relatively bad history with Kolkata Knight Riders. He was with his home team for the first three seasons and was involved in a lot of controversies. He was removed from the captainship and was left unsold in 2011. But, the man who changed Indian cricket came back ever so strongly and is captaining Pune Warriors this season.

The match is a complete sell-out and it is inevitable that Kolkatans will support their favorite son. Ganguly for the first time in his life will enter the Eden gardens with a motive to beat the home team, but some people will differ as Edens has always been Ganguly’s home ground no matter what team he plays for.

KKR in this season has played some good cricket and going by the form that they are in, they will be the favorites to win the match, but the aura of this game is such that anything is possible. Knowing Ganguly, he will be desperate to prove a point to the team which neglected him so badly.

Pune Warriors have suffered four consecutive defeats and this is a perfect time to get back to the winning ways and one thing is for sure, that the whole Kolkata will celebrate if they will do that. The win is very important for them because they are on the verge of getting out of the completion and they can’t afford any more bad games.
