Korea qualify for London Olympics

Dublin: A late goal by Nam Yong Lee to send Korea into the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Korea defeated Ireland 3-2 in the final game of the Electric Ireland FIH Road to London. Koreans currently the number sixth ranked team in the World entered the tournament as favorites and did justify their ranking and the anticipation.

Ireland playing in front of their home crowd drew the first blood of the match when Peter Caruth scored in the 13th minutes of the match. With just five minutes left to go into the breather Nam Yong Lee of Korea scored to restore parity. The team went into the half time with the score equalized 1-1.

But the lead was short lived as two minutes later Korea got the equalizer when Hyun Woo Nam scored off a penalty stroke.

With match entering its dying moments, a tie breaker was on the cards but a goal by Lee in the 70th minute of the match sent the whole stadium into a deep silence.
