NCC Directorate thrash St. John’s

New Delhi: The goal fest does not seem to fade away at the 40th Nehru Junior Hockey Tournament as NCC Directorate came back from behind to thrash St. John’s Hr. Sec School, Tirunelvelli 9-3 in a league match played here at the Dhyanchand Stadium here today.

The match which was started well by the St. John’s and they imposed their supremacy in the initial moments of the match as they drew the first blood of the match in the fourth minute itself. They got their first goal through R.S Sunil Murthy. In the 17th the NCC boys got the equalizer through M. Bronson Singh. Seeing this St. John’s pulled up their socks and soon took the lead through M. Karthick.

The Tamil Nadu boys did not seem to stop their attack and scored again in the 24th minute to widen the gap.  Sensing the urgency of the situation, NCC upped the ante and pumped in three goals within the next minutes to go into the half time with one goal advantage.

After the change of ends, the story remained the same and NCC boys fired in five more goals to send the Tamil Nadu boys home packing.
