Senior Women Hockey: Karnataka enter quarters

00 hockeyNew Delhi: Two goals by Chaitra KC helped Karnataka to enter the quarterfinals of the 3rd Hockey India Senior Women National Hockey Championship, with a 2-1 win against Odisha in Pool G at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in the Guru Gobind Singh College on Monday. Railways have already qualified for quarterfinals.

Goal Scorer for Karnataka was Chaitra KC (12, 22 min) while Raina Yadav (26 min) scored the only goal for Odisha.

In the other match of the day, Mumbai Hockey Association Limited (MHA Ltd) beat Rajasthan 12-1 in Pool B.

Scorers for MHA were Pratibha Sawant (21, 30, 39, 62 min), Sarita Hanuman (10, 26, 49 min), Jahanara Bano (28, 48 min), Afshan Basha (24 min), Krishna Patel (61 min) and for Rajasthan, Jaya Chouhan (46 min).

In pool B Haryana got a walkover from Bengal Hockey Association.

In Pool F, Hockey Bhopal hammered Gujarat 19-0. Moully Yadav scored maximum eight goals for Hockey Bhopal.

Goal Scorers for Hockey Bhopal were Deepika Sharma (7, 32, 53 min), Moully Yadav (8, 20, 23, 28, 39, 48, 56, 69 min), Dolly Yadav (9, 37 min), Pragya Mourya (11, 50, 59 min), Chanda Gupta (21, 60 min) and Preeti Singh (67 min).

Tuesday’s fixtures: Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy vs Jammu & Kashmir (6.30am), Chandigarh vs Sports Authority of India (2.00pm), Punjab vs Assam (3.30pm), Haryana vs Rajasthan (5.00pm).
