Anirban, Sujjan placed tied 16th at Hong Kong Open

Hong Kong: India’s Anirban Lahiri and Sujjan Singh, with a score of one-under 69, were tied at 16th place at the UBS Hong Kong Open on Thursday.


Meanwhile, world number two Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland brilliantly launched his quest for a first victory at Hong Kong Open with a masterful six-under-par 64 for the joint first round lead on Thursday. The reigning U.S. Open champion tamed swirling winds at the Hong Kong Golf Club to sink six birdies and was joined at the top of the leaderboard by big-hitting Spaniard Alvaro Quiros and England’s David Horsey.

Jyoti Randhawa (70) was provisionally 29th, while Digvijay Singh (72) was at tied 55th, and Jeev Milkha Singh (73) and Himmat Rai (73) were tied 77th. SSP Chowrasia shot 74 while Shiv Kapur, Gaganjeet Bhullar and Rahil Gangjee had disappointing rounds of 75 each.
